Gia Allemand, the 29-year-old former Maxim model best known for being a finalist on Season 14 of "The Bachelor," stunned family and friends when she hanged herself last week at her New Orleans home. New details of her tragic death have emerged as her mother has opened up about the unfortunate incident saying she was on the phone with her daughter at the time she took her life.

According to TMZ, Gia's mother Donna Micheletti is reported to have told police that during the call, the phone "had gone silent." She then tried "in vain" to communicate with her daughter for a further ten minutes. Micheletti has said little in the wake of her daughter's tragic death. However, a few days ago, she urged people not to listen to claims made by self-proclaimed 'friends' of the late reality star. "The family and close friends of Gia Allemand have not spoken to the media to date, nor have they posted comments or insight on Twitter," she said in an official statement, adding that there were many people pretending to be her friends making up stories about the deceased.

But, what made the former "Bachelor" star take her own life? Some reports claim it was a fight she had with boyfriend Ryan Anderson earlier that day, that was just the tip of the iceberg of a relationship that had been "on the rocks" for a long time. A source told Us Weekly that the couple had different visions of the future and while Allemand wanted to get married and settle down, Anderson "wasn't ready to commit." "He started breakup talks. They were fighting a lot," added the source.

Gia and Ryan were on a lunch day the day she took her life. She accused him of being unfaithful and the two broke into one of their usual fights. However, Gia said she still loved him and reportedly, that's when he dropped the bomb saying "I don't love you anymore." They got home, but Anderson left again, that's when it's assumed that Gia called her mother and later committed suicide. Her boyfriend found her less than an hour after he had left.

Mike Simpson, Gia's neighbor reportedly went to Ryan's aid when he heard someone scream for help coming from her house. "He just kept yelling her name, 'Why, Gia? Why?' Just sobbing," the neighbor said about Ryan. "When the EMS guy arrived, he asked how long she had been like this, and [Ryan] said, 'I was gone for an hour and I came home and she was like this.' He didn't say it calmly. He said something to the effect of, 'I wasn't gone for more than an hour.' I just remember thinking, he is just so distraught."

Gia was taken to a nearby hospital and put on life-support, but Donna and Ryan made the decision to take her off after several days, and Gia immediately passed away. She left a suicide note on the dining room table and in it left all of her property to her mother.
