Gerard Pique's new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, seems to be deeply affected by Shakira's hit diss track.
According to The Sun, being "the other woman" has seemingly taken its toll on the 23-year-old public relations student. Marti is said to be teleworking from her parent's house in Spain to escape prying eyes. Spanish journalist Lorena Vazquez said that people stop her in the street, "they sing the song to her, everyone recognizes her, and as she is quite a shy girl."
The 23-year-old is battling a barrage of hate from Pique's former partner Shakira after the singer dropped the diss track "Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53."
Journalist Saul Ortiz said that Marti has been at her "parents' house for about eight days, teleworking." He shared that she has needed a refuge because "her state of mind is not good. It's not easy being a girl of 23 and being on the lips of Spain and the whole world." All this has "taken its toll on her and she needed to take a step away."
Pique and Shakira have been engaged in a bitter falling-out since they split up after being together for 12 years. In the song, Shakira shades Pique and his new girlfriend by singing, “Sorry baby I should have thrown you out a while ago... I wish you good luck with my supposed replacement.” In another verse, she takes aim at Marti by singing, "You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo."
As for Shakira, she took to Instagram to shake her hips after her allegedly unfaithful ex went public with his new girlfriend, reported Page Six. The 45-year-old captioned a split-screen video showing her dancing and mouthing the lyrics to her diss track, “Las mujeres ya no lloran las mujeres bailan merengue!”
It translates to, “Women no longer cry; women dance merengue."
Last week, Pique went Instagram official with Marti by posting a selfie-style photo of the new couple. In the photo, the Spanish retired soccer star and Marti who allegedly started their romance while he was still with Shakira, cozied up together in a restaurant. The two looked happy as they smiled for the camera.
