George Zimmerman has been in hiding following his acquittal in the death of Trayvon Martin, but he surfaced to help rescue someone who was trapped in an overturned truck, police said today.
Zimmerman was reported to have "pulled an individual from a truck that had rolled over" at the intersection of a Florida highway last week, according to Sanford Police Captain Jim McAuliffe.
The crash occurred last week at the intersection of I-4 and route 417, according to ABC News. This is the first known sighting of Zimmerman following the not guilty verdict. Zimmerman shot and killed Martin in Sanford, Florida, on February 26, 2012. Last week, a jury of six women determined that Zimmerman shot Martin in self-defense.
The acquittal of Zimmerman in Martin's death has sparked national and international protests calling for justice. According to Zimmerman's lawyers he has been the subject of several death threats, they also revealed has been wearing a bulletproof vest when he ventures out in public.
