George Zimmerman, the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer acquitted of shooting and killing Trayvon Martin was taken into police custody. Police detained Zimmerman after an armed altercation with another person, according to police. According to the Associated Press, Zimmerman's wife Shellie called 911 after her husband reportedly threatened both she and her father with a gun. Now police are investigating a "possible domestic battery" involving Zimmerman in Lake Mary, Florida.

Police Officer Zach Hudson of Lake Mary said it was his understanding that a gun was involved. Zimmerman was found not guilty on July 13 of murder in the shooting of Martin, a 17-year-old teenager in Sanford. His wife filed for divorce last week after six years of marriage, stating that he Zimmerman had "beaten down her self esteem."
