"Game of Thrones" season five has come to a brutal end, and we are only left to wonder the fait of too many of our favorite characters. There are too many lose ends and probably some we refuse to accept, but here is a recap of what happened. Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! DO NOT CONTINUE READING IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE EPISODE. Most were sure Stannis Baratheon’s sacrifices would pay off; he would go to Winterfell, end Ramsay Bolton and take over for Sansa Stark’s and Theon Greyjoy’s relief. But unfortunately for Stannis, none of his plans went his way; his army left him, Melisandre gallops away, his wife hangs herself and he was defeated outside Winterfell and finished by Brienne of Tarth, as her duty indicated.
While Sansa Stark attempted her escape as her husband had left for war, he comes back sooner than expected and is forced to escape the castle in a most dangerous way: jumping down one of the high walls. It is uncertain if Theon or her survived the jump.
As for Daenerys, her loyal people await her return in Meerem but think it wiser to split up. Tyrion Lannister is assigned to stay and rule what’s left of the crumbling city and Jorah will lead the rest in the rescue mission. In the meantime, Khaleesi is at the top of a hill struggling to get Drogon to take her back home as he is injured and hungry. When she decides to go hunt for supper, she is surrounded by hundreds of soldiers in horses who start galloping around her in circles.
Arya Stark leads us to believe she has completed her ‘Faceless men’ training by going into the brothel as a little girl who refuses to complain when whipped by Meryn Trant. Therefore she is ready to take the life of the first person in her list. She brutally stabs his eyes and mouth until she explains who she was and cuts his throat. She then returns to her headquarters where she is told that life was not for her to take and put into a trance where she commences to lose her eyesight.
Cersei Lannister sees no other way out than confessing her sins and does so before the High Sparrow. She is now one step closer to forgiveness (or so she thinks) but now she has to go to trial. They let her go back to kasjhddsj but not after her atonement. Her atonement consists in being cleansed, getting her hair chopped off and then having to walk completely naked to her castle before the people. The Queen mother has food and feces thrown at her while the people of King’s Landing yell names at her. When she arrives, she meets Qyburn’s newest creation, a new member of the board who vows he will never speak again until justice is done in the kingdom.
Before Jamie Lannister’s return to King’s Landing with his daughter, Myrcella Baratheon, she is kissed on the lips Ellaria Sand where she is fatally poisoned. Jamie confesses to being her father on the ship and after she says she is happy about it, her nose starts bleeding and she slowly collapses into her father’s arms.
As for Jon Snow, he’s made it back alive with the Wildings but calls himself “the most hated man of the north” when talking to his only friend Sam, who asks to leave to become a mestre and takes Gilly and the baby with him. Melisandra gallops back to the Wall where she implies that Stannis was finished. During the night, Jon Snow is called outside to hear news about his uncle Berjen, when instead he is ambushed by some of the men of the Night’s Watch, stabbed repeatedly by Allicer Thorne, amongst other men and finally by his little protégé, Olly before he is left to bleed out in the snow.
