Calling all “Game of Thrones” fans! While I would love to tell you that Ned Stark has risen from the dead and will be featured in Season 5 of HBO’s epic fantasy series, that’s untrue, and you know how serious I am about accurate show spoilers. Ned Stark will be back on our TV screens, but this time he has traded in his fur cloak and huge long sword, for a sleek leather jacket and discreet pistol combination, think more “James Bond,” less medieval.
Alas Sean Bean is in a new show, called “Legends” and the only honorable thing to do is to watch it and once again hear the stoic and heroic voice that brought George R.R. Martin’s character of Ned Stark to life in front of our very eyes. So what’s the deal with “Legends,” well let’s start off with one of the most alluring things about this series, apparently Sean Bean doesn’t die, or at least that’s what TNT wants us to believe. “Legends” ad campaign is being touted with the hilarious, yet seemingly necessary hashtag “#dontkillseanbean,” and while the main character’s survival should not be the reason to watch, if it’s Sean Bean that changes things.
So admittedly Sean Bean’s survival is a big reason to watch “Legends,” there are other reasons. The series, premiering tonight on TNT is produced by Howard Gordon, and is based on the 2005 Robert Littell novel of the same name. Bean portrays the protagonist, Martin Odum, an undercover FBI agent that has an uncanny ability to maintain deep cover identities, causing him difficulty when attempting to separate his real life from his “legend.” Bean has a real opportunity to show his impressive range in “Legends,” mainly due to his role as an undercover agent, which forces him to assume many different personalities.
So if you are intrigued by “Legends” and the possibility of Sean Bean actually surviving in a series, then be sure to watch the series premiere tonight on TNT at 9 p.m. Also if you don’t want to wait to watch the pilot episode tonight, then you can stream the premiere episode of “Legends” online for free at TNT Drama.
