A South Jersey serial killer accused of brutally murdering four people in a cross-country wave of senseless violence has been seized by law enforcement on Tuesday on murder and tampering with evidence charges concerning the death of his fifth alleged victim.
The suspect Sean Lannon, 47, allegedly bludgeoned his associate Randall Todd Apostalon, 60, to death after hiring him to hide the rotting remains of his ex-wife and two other murder victims in New Mexico, according to Albuquerque police.
The 60-year-old victim's lifeless body was retrieved by authorities on March 5. It was haphazardly placed on the passenger seat of his pickup truck parked at an airport garage in Albuquerque, the Courier-Post reported.
Meanwhile, the body of South Jersey native Jennifer Lannon, 39, and the vile chopped remains of her boyfriend and another unidentified man were found crammed into storage containers inside the same truck.
Lannon allegedly left his victims in the garage a day before he flew with his family from the Albuquerque airport for a visit to South Jersey. After returning to South Jersey, Lannon purportedly killed 66-year-old Michael Dabkowski in his East Greenwich home on March 8, police alleged.
Lannon was apprehended by police on March 10 following an extensive manhunt operation that concluded in St. Louis. He's now being held at Salem County Jail on a fifth homicide charge.
A Facebook page identifies the then New Mexico resident Lannon as a Mullica Hill native.
Investigations are continuing after the suspect reportedly confessed to killing at least 16 people in multiple states. An official, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Associated Press that New Mexico and New Jersey cops are working closely with their federal counterparts on the veracity of claims made by Lannon.
In a similar crime, a Tennessee man is facing murder charges following the gruesome find that the corpse of his ex-girlfriend was still inside the victim's Dodge Charger he was trying to sell for some money.
The suspected killer-boyfriend, Robert Miquel Johnson, 31, allegedly tried to get rid of the vehicle a day before the remains of Pamela Paz, 44, was found under a Nashville overpass in May. The body had sustained significant strangulation marks, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said.
When grilled by police, Johnson provided an alibi, which was subsequently proven to be false by authorities. Johnson allegedly provided false information about his whereabouts at the time of the woman's death.
Detectives later tracked down a witness, who claimed the boyfriend placed the woman's Dodge Charger on sale following her death. On Monday, authorities secured an arrest warrant charging Johnson with criminal homicide, the New York Post reported.
The man is currently in jail on unrelated charges in Wilson County and is presumed to be extradited to Nashville.
