Former Mavericks second-round pick Tyrell Terry announced his retirement yesterday on Instagram, citing struggles with anxiety. The Mavericks drafted him with the No. 31 pick, the first pick in the second round of the 2020 draft.

Terry spoke about some of his struggles in his caption. “Intrusive thoughts, waking up nauseous, and finding myself struggling to take normal breaths because of the rock that would sit on my chest that seemed to weigh more than I could carry.”
The photos displayed his basketball career, from his early days all the way to his short stint with the Mavericks. He appeared in just 11 games and missed some due to what was deemed “personal reasons.”

Terry also said that while some will know him as a “as a bust, or a failure,” he is grateful for everyone that believed in him.

Terry also played in the G league and appeared in two games with the Memphis Grizzlies.
