Scoring big ratings is difficult these days special in the telenovela genre, but TV Globo in Brazil managed to make it happen with their latest title "A Força Do Querer," which in Spanish will be known as "Querer Sin Limites." The story is written by Gloria Perez, the author behind hits like "El Clon" and "India, Historia De Un Amor." Themes dealt with in the series included gender identity, femenism, drug trafficking and much more.
Brazil once again dropped everything to watch the greatest recent success on Brazilian television. With an extremely captivating plot, "Querer Sin Limites" ended on Friday, October 20 and reached more than 65 million Brazilians during its final chapter. Out of every 10 televisions on, 7 were tuned to the plot signed by award-winning Gloria Perez, beating its audience record. In São Paulo, the audience of the final chapter was the highest since the end of "Avenida Brasil." The telenovela captivated its audience from the beginning and registered impressive numbers throughout the entire showing, with an average daily rating of 34 million people.
The great telenovela success on the TV also shook up the internet. In addition to appearing on the Social Wit List among the Latin American premieres most commented on social media in the month of April, the plot registered a total of 6.5 million tweets on Twitter from 570,000 single users throughout its showing. During exhibition of the last chapter alone, the #AForçadoQuerer (the title of the telenovela in Portuguese) was mentioned 569,000 times, surpassing the success of "Avenida Brasil," with a 97% growth on the buzz. And 8 terms related to the telenovela have entered the worldwide trending topics of Twitter.
"We are very happy with this Globo’s telenovela. We are sure that ‘Querer Sin Limites’ will also be a great success in the rest of the world,” says Raphael Corrêa Netto, Executive Director of International Business at Globo.
"Querer Sin Limites" is headlined by three beautiful, strong and charismatic women played by the talented Paolla Oliveira ("Rastros De Mentiras"), Ísis Valverde ("Avenida Brasil") and Juliana Paes ("India: Una Historia De Amor). The cast also includes Rodrigo Lombardi ("Verdades Secretas"), Marcos Pigossi ("Reglas Del Juego), Lilia Cabral ("Fina Estampa"), Débora Falabella ("Avenida Brasil"), Humberto Martins ("Gabriela"), among others.
With parallel plots as thrilling as the main story lines, the telenovela proves the ability that a good story has to enchant, captivate and move people. The production included the mastery of author Glória Perez – who signs other successful works such as ‘The Clone’ and International Emmy winner for Best Telenovela, ‘India - A Love Story’ – to sensibly approach human drama and current issues, as well as proposing important discussions that are very present in today’s world. Issues such as drug trafficking, passion without limits, gambling addictions, diversity and gender identity are displayed through striking characters who move the public and create a strong identification with the audience.
The great success of "Querer Sin Limites" and the strong audience numbers recorded reflect a new business management model for Globo Studios. Investments in the artistic line such as actors, writers, authors, as well as infrastructure ensure quality and content volume, resulting in 59 titles, 2,382 episodes and approximately 4,980 hours of dramaturgy in 2016 alone.
