On Wednesday afternoon a police chase turned deadly when shots opened up at a Florida airport. Three suspects led the police on a wild car chase which ended up in the parking garage of the Jacksonville International Airport.

According to NBC News the Florida airport shooting was the second shooting the car thieves were allegedly involved in that day. The first happened earlier near a Florida elementary school. The school was placed on lockdown. There is no further reports about the shooting but NBC did report the lockdown was lifted later Wednesday afternoon.

The Chief of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Department, Tom Hackney held a press conference and described what NBC called a "Hollywood" style car chase.

"Jacksonville SWAT officers following up on an auto theft last week spotted the car in question early Wednesday afternoon and began following it as it made its way to the airport."

Hackney goes on to say that the suspects driving in the car noticed the police following them and that is when the chase began, leading to a shootout at the Florida airport.

The police fired at the suspects but they were able to get away. The Inquisitr says the police eventually tracked the car and the suspects down to a Jacksonville apartment complex. At the apartment the police arrested a 17-year-old man and a 27-year-old man with a bullet wound to the ankle.

Two of the three suspects are in custody but Action News is reporting the third, identified as Rodney Lorenzo is still on the run.
