Jet Blue was forced to divert a flight on Thursday heading from Weschester, New York to Florida after a bird struck against the plane. Flight 1205 was on its way from White Plains to Fort Myers when a bird strike forced the plane to land at JFK International airport.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the aircraft diverted to John F. Kennedy airport for inspection and landed safely at 8:25am," a statement from Jet Blue via Yahoo News read. There were no injuries reported.

According to Yahoo News bird strikes against planes are not an uncommon occurrence and are a "growing danger" to the safety of flights and passengers.

One famous example of a bird strike on a plane that could have ended up tragic was the "Miracle on the Hudson." In 2009, Captain Sullenberger was able to land his passenger plane in the middle of the Hudson River after a flock of geese collided with the plane.

There were 155 passengers onboard the aircraft, all managed to escape the plane and were picked up by rescue boats.

Yahoo News says that the 68 passengers onboard Thursday's diverted flight were quickly loaded onto another plane and taken to their destination.

In an equally scary incident onboard an Air Canada flight last week, the pilot came running out of the cockpit screaming for help and telling people to get off the plane. The pilot was restrained in a wheel chair and the flight from Calgary to Newark was diverted to Toronto.

According to The Inquisitr, the pilot was later diagnosed with a medical condition but there are no reports as to what that might be.

Angela Mah a spokeswoman for Air Canada told The Inquisitr, "I can say that it was an unforeseen, previously undiagnosed physical ailment and [the pilot] is currently on leave."

The Transportation Safety Board told The Inquisitr it was looking into the incident onboard the plane.
