Dong Nguyen, creator of the popular and addictive Flappy Bird game revealed the game is coming back to mobile platforms this August with a multiplayer component reports CNBC.

"Flappy Bird's Dong Nguyen: Flappy Bird is coming back. Multiplayer. August," said CNBC's Kelly Evans on Twitter.

Nguyen also said, "I will make it so a lot of people can play at the same time, because playing alone is boring."

Flappy Bird was originally released May 2013 but its popularity didn't peak until this past January. Nguyen removed the game from the App Store and Google Play in February because he believed it was becoming too addictive and because of all the online abuse he had endured about the game.

However in March, Nguyen said that he was planning to re-release the game with some improvements, but "not soon." At the time, one report indicated that an average of 60 Flappy Bird clones hit the App Store every day.

Meanwhile according to CNBC's Donna Burton, Nguyen is also working on other games, and his next one will feature "some guy jumping from building to building." Since Flappy Bird went offline, Nguyen's company, .Gears Studio, has released a game called Smashing Kitty on iOS. .Gears Studio's portfolio also include: Droplet Shuffle, Shuriken Block and Ninjas Assault.
