Firefighters Find Cat Inside Engine After Car Owner Complains of Unexplained Meowing

Florida firefighters were able to rescue a furry friend from an odd hiding place after responding to a 911 call about a mysterious meowing.

Fire rescue crews from "Ladder 2" responded to a 911 call in an area near 1310 Northwest Fifth Street. The caller reportedly heard meowing nearby but could not locate the cat.

A small black kitten was then found inside the car's engine.

"Black cats and Halloween are synonymous, so it's only appropriate that we'd rescue one just days before the holiday. Meet "Salem"," said a post on the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Facebook Page. "Firefighter Kary Plaza gave Salem a warm bath, fed him, and is looking for a fur-ever home."
