A.J. Clemente, the news anchor fired from an NBC affiliate in North Dakota over the weekend, may already have a new job. In his first appearance on KFYR, A.J. Clemente said 'f---ing s---' under his breath as co-anchor Van Tieu began the news segment. Not surprisingly, he was immediately fired by KFYR.
On Wednesday, Clemente visited "The Late Show" where host David Letterman said he wanted the embarrassed anchor to get his job back in Bismarck, N.D. "Now what about these goons in Bismarck," Letterman asked Clemente, "Are they going to give you your job back?"
David Letterman scoffed when Clemente responded saying he'd rather hear an offer from sports network ESPN. "That isn't going to happen," Letterman said. The late night host has had his share of serious gaffes as well. Some of which his detractors say were not accidental.
In 2009, the former Indiana weatherman used former Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, and her family as common fodder for his nightly joke reel. He was pressured to and later apologized for a joke in which he remarked that during Palin's June 2009 trip to New York City, she was spotted at a Yankees baseball game. Letterman jested somewhat insensitively that Palin's daughter, Willow was impregnated by Alex Rodriguez during the 7th Inning Stretch, considered by some to be a raunchy reference to the then-headlining situation involving Palin's oldest daughter Bristol and her then-boyfriend Levi Johnston.
Fired anchorman A.J. Clemente also appeared on the "Today" show and "Live with Kelly & Michael", two daytime talk shows. "Live" co-host Michael Strahan, a former New York Giant, noted that New Yorkers believe in giving second chances. Clemente is originally from New York City. Strahan offered Clemente a one-time position as a correspondent for the talk show at the upcoming premiere of the film "Love Is All You Need", which features former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan.
