The 2014 Fiat 500L isn't playing around. After the ridiculously adorable Fiat 500 hatch successfully spearheaded the North American market, the Italian automaker now enters the second phase of its explosive return.

While the Fiat 500 city car is a fashion statement for the hippest of urban lifestylists, the Fiat 500L serves a higher purpose as a smartly packaged people carrier. The new 2014 Fiat 500L offers a more versatile cabin thanks to an extra 27.7 inches in length, 5.7 inches in width, and 5.9 inches in height. Despite the significantly larger dimensions, the little-extra Fiat 500L fits very snugly within the popular B-segment category.

The extra couple of inches completely transforms the flexibility of arrangements capable in the 2014 Fiat 500L. For starters, four real adult humans and all their belongings can fit inside the cavernous interior for a delightful weekend trip. The cabin features a stylized European design to keep thinks chic and fresh. What's more, colors available for the 2014 Fiat 500L include a variety of vibrant or neutral tones to keep the Fiat's fun image.

The 2014 Fiat 500L will feature a 1.4 liter turbocharged Multiair engine found in the 500 Abarth, delivering an adequate 160 hp to the front wheels. The 2014 Fiat 500L offers a choice between a six-speed manual and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as optional. A conventional automatic transmission will be available later. The Fiat 500L gets an estimated 25 mpg city, and 33 mpg highway. The dual clutch automatic gearbox gets 24/33.

The 2014 Fiat 500L is available in the base Pop trim, the mid-level Easy, the more rugged Trekking model, and finally, the Lounge. The Pop starts at $19,900 and will feature a number of standard equipment including a five-inch Uconnect 5.0 touch-screen infotainment system, air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, a tilting-and-telescoping steering wheel, and folding rear seats. The Easy trim will start at $20,995 and will offer an option for the dual-clutch gearbox, which cost a premium of $1350. The Trekking costs $21,995, and finally, the fancy Lounge starts at $24,995.
