The latest Ferrari halo will once again showcase the Italian marques racing pedigree and the pinnacle of supercar technology.

Staging a very special unveiling at the Paris Motor Show, we see the Ferrari F70's full carbon fiber monocoque for the first time. Applying lessons learned from Formula 1 racing, the carbon composite chassis is the most advanced piece of carbon structure the company has ever revealed.

Just last month, Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa made a statement claiming that Ferrari has no intentions of switching to full carbon fiber production vehicles anytime soon. According to Felisa, carbon fiber technology won't be where the automaker needs it to be until 2020. Common methods of industrial carbon fiber production today use Resin Transfer Molding techniques that Ferrari finds inadequate for the sort of performance their sports cars require. Thus, in order to develop the F70, Ferrari has fast tracked an in-house carbon fiber technque instead.

Following a similar principle to McLarens carbon MonoCell, the Ferrari F70 carbon monocoque features a total of four different types of carbon fiber, each hand-laminated before it is cured in an autoclave. The main structure uses T800 grade carbone that is overlaid with unidirectional T800UD carbon-fiber tape for additional rigidity. Underbody crossmembers of the monocoque use M46J carbon fiber, which is known for its remarkably high tensile strength. What's more, the underbody will also be doubly reinforced with Kevlar materials, most notably used for bulletproof vests, to protect the car from road debris. Finally, the doors on the Ferrari F70 will utilize T1000 carbon fiber, a material used on the nose assembly of its F1 cars, due to its impact absorbing characteristics.

Ferrari claims that its monocoque stands to be at least 20 percent lighter than the architecture in the Ferrari Enzo predecessor. Torsional rigidity will increase by 27 percent and beam stiffness will also increase by 22 percent.

Ferrari has yet to disclose a rolling prototype but the company has unveiled the F70's hybrid drivetrain earlier this year during the Beijing Auto Show. Expect a complete Ferrari F70 hypercar concept vehicle to debut before 2013 end.
