Apple has unveiled lower priced iPod Touch models. The new devices not only comes in a variety of colors but boast a new 5-megapixel iSight camera. Check out these four things you should know about the lower-cost iPod Touch:
1. Starting today, Thursday June 26, the 16 GB model is availalbe for $199 which previously sold for $299. The 32 GB iPod Touch, will now be $50 cheaper making it now $249 and the 64 GB model will sell for $299, a $100 price cut from its previous selling price of $399.
2. The low-cost iPod Touch is available in a variety of colors including pink, yellow, blue, silver and space gray. There is also an Apple Store exclusive (Product) Red version as well.
3. The newly revealed iPod Touch features a 5-megapixel iSight camera, which was missing from the first model. The new camera is capable of recording 1080p HD video. The camera features Autofocus, tap to focus video or still images, backside illumation, hybrid IR filter, five-element lens, LED flash, f/2.4 aperture, face detection and more.
4. Aside from the new iSight camera the lower-priced iPod Touch has a 4-inch Retina display, A5 processor, and a front facing FaceTime camera. The iPod Touch comes installed with iOS 7, but the device will be functional with iOS 8 when it launches alongside the iPhone 6 this fall.
The move to make the iPod Touch cheaper is probably due to Apple's revenues for the iPod which fell from $962 million to $461 million in the March quarter from early this year. The device is now the lowest contributor to Apple as most people usually use their iPhone or iPad as a means to listen to music. Perhaps Apple can
