A 38-year-old woman is facing serious charges for sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy on several occasions. The woman, identified as Deborah Yates, is a mother of three and used crisps and sweets in exchange for sexual favors.
The 38-year-old woman from Derbyshire allegedly encouraged the boy to skip school and meet her in a field where some activity happened. According to the court, Yates kissed and hugged the boy before telling the pre-teen to put his hands down her trousers.
In one of those episodes, it appears Yates was caught by one of the 12-year-old boy’s teachers. The teacher found Yates lying down next to the boy in the bushes and ended up trying to rearrange her clothing, Derbyshirelive reported. The 38-year-old denied all the charges booked against her.
According to the prosecution, the acts started in 2017. The woman and the boy were living in Derby at the time with Yates reportedly befriending the 12-year-old boy.
"She asked him not to go to school and encouraged him to meet her rewarding him with sweets and drinks,” the prosecution’s Andrew Vout stated. "She would meet him in a field near his school and encourage him to kiss and touch her. She would put her hands down his trousers and touch him (sexually)."
Vout added that Yates would give the boy money, sweets and crisps in exchange. Aside from that, the mother of three also gifted the boy with a mobile phone. It was here where she was able to communicate with the boy without the parents knowing.
However, the whole thing was unearthed when teachers began to grow worried as the boy missed classes. Authorities also got involved in 2017.
Yate was issued a “stay away” order but continued to meet up with the boy. It was that occurrence when teachers found the 38-year-old and the boy in the bushes that was earlier mentioned.
Yates was arrested for child abduction but denied the charges. She eventually moved out of the area. The boy ended up being confused by the whole ordeal but is now being cared for by the Safe and Sound organization that specializes in child sexual victims.
