“Fear The Walking Dead” Season 5 has reached midseason break with its eighth episode two weeks ago on July 21. The TWD spin-off series trudges along as everyone’s favorite “Fear” survivors will be taking a step further after the AMC show received the green light for a Season 6. This year’s Comic-Con International: San Diego showcased proof of why it’s a great time to be a fan of the hit series and what the show has in store for the future.
“Fear The Walking Dead” will be on hiatus for three weeks and is set to return on Aug. 11. But the show takes a unique and interesting turn to pass the time by releasing some “found footage”-style videos on YouTube that will connect to Season 5 episode 9, “Channel 4.”
The YouTube mini-series will revolve around “Fear The Walking Dead” protagonist Althea — played by Maggie Grace — after her fateful encounter with Isabelle and the helicopter. She focuses on never giving up hope and how her interviews and overall role play an important part for the world’s future.
The second tape introduces a new survivor named Ed. He is a simple man who wishes to get home to his family in Tyler, Texas, and he meets Al along the way. He takes up on her offer of a ride to Tyler in exchange for his story and how he arrived to that point.
The hype for the mid-season return is definitely high, especially after teasing the episode names for the 9th to 16th episodes. Some spoilers have already made it to the web, and people have some wild theories about what the show has in stock for the next few weeks. A popular theory is the possible return of fan-favorite Maddison Clark — played by Kim Dickens — who has been gone since her sacrifice in Season 4.
Despite her self-sacrifice to get Alicia, Nick and the rest to get out of a particularly sticky situation, we don’t actually get to see a corpse for the heroine, prompting some theories that she was actually able to survive and may make an appearance in the near future. Although no official announcement has been made for her return, fans have high hopes that the upcoming midseason return will somehow have her make an appearance.
“Fear The Walking Dead” Season 5 will resume on Aug. 11 on AMC.
