EXO is preparing for a comeback this year amid packed schedules of its members, according to SM Entertainment. More than a year after their last release, the popular Korean group is coming back with a full-length album!
The countdown begins as EXO’s official website rebrands with a black-and-white logo for its “Obsession” album consisting of two flags forming the letters E, X and O. A concept trailer has also been uploaded with a dark and fierce theme featuring northern lights.
The group has already announced on Twitter that teaser images will be released every other day starting November 11 until November 25 when the music video teaser will be publicized.
“Obsession” album and music video will be out by November 27.
However, a new tour might not be possible until the later months of 2020. EXO is still on their “EXO PLANET #5 – ExplOration Tour” that began in July and will run until December 2019 to promote their 2018 album “Don’t Mess Up My Tempo” and its repackaged version, “Love Shot”.
Additionally, two of their members are currently busy with promoting engagements as members another K-Pop group, Super M.
Super M is a newly formed boy group under the same entertainment agency that immediately gained popularity for having seven members from four other established idol groups of SM Entertainment.
“ We don't have much time left before the end of the year but EXO will be back sometime this year,” said group dancer Kai, member of both EXO and Super M, in an interview.
“I know it’s not going to be easy, but we’ll be juggling between EXO and SuperM,” group vocalist Baekhyun said, referring to conflicting schedules. “We have plans to return with new work before the end of this year. We are going to do our best both as EXO and SuperM, so hope you can support us.”
In the past months, other EXO members had been busy with individual engagements. Team vocalist Chen released his solo mini-album “April, and a flower“ in April featuring six songs with poetic lyrics. The group’s rapper, Chanyeol, also released an official solo single “SSFW” (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) about three weeks later.
Two of the boy bands members, Xiumin and D.O., are currently not participating in activities to serve their mandatory enlistment in the military that lasts for about two years.
