UFC champion Conor McGregor is accused of allegedly assaulting a DJ and leaving him with a broken nose in an unprovoked attack during a party in Rome.
On Sunday, at around 2:30 am, Conor McGregor, 33, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight and lightweight double-champion, allegedly punched Francesco Facchinetti, a famous DJ from Italy, in the face and broke his nose during a late-night party at the St. Regis hotel in Rome. The alleged attack reportedly happened just hours after McGregor attended his son's baptism at the Vatican, New York Post reported.
Facchinetti reportedly said that the attack was unprovoked and plans to sue McGregor. He added that he and his wife had been partying with McGregor and his fiancée and were invited to another party with him before the UFC star allegedly punched him in his face.
Facchinetti reportedly posted a video on his social media platforms that clearly showed his injuries. “The very famous McGregor, who punched me in the mouth, broke my nose in front of ten witnesses, his friends, and his bodyguards," he said. "He attacked me without motivation as we talked for more than two hours and we also had fun together."
"I could have shut up and not said anything to anyone, but since I’m here to tell it, I must say that that person is really violent and dangerous,” he added.
McGregor reportedly flew to Rome last week where he intends to collect his new Lamborghini super-yacht. He was joined in Italy by his family as they celebrated his second son's baptism just hours before the alleged attack, TMZ reported.
Following the incident, Facchinetti's wife also posted a video on her social media handles narrating the incident. “Then out of nowhere, he threw a punch in the face of Francesco. He was inviting us to another party. Francesco said, ‘Okay, let’s go’ and he hit him. Luckily, he [Francesco] was very close so he [Conor] couldn’t load up on his punch. Francesco flew back, fell on the table, and then on the ground," she said.
She also warned her followers not to go near McGregor or ask for his autograph as he is an unstable and dangerous person.
McGregor has had similar altercations in the past. Previously, in 2019, he was reportedly charged with assault after he allegedly punched an elderly man in a Dublin bar. Just one year prior to this incident, he reportedly threw a dolly through the window of a bus of MMA fighters at Barclays Center. McGregor avoided jail after agreeing to a plea deal. He was ordered to complete community service and attend anger management classes.
He was also involved in an altercation with rapper Machine Gun Kelly at the VMA award ceremony in New York last month.
