In a shocking turn of events, Charles Haeger, a former Major League Baseball pitcher was found dead on Saturday amid speculations that he had a part to play in his ex-girlfriend’s death on October 2nd. It is believed that he shot himself to death, a day after his ex’s demise.
The 37-year-old sportsperson’s body was discovered at 4.pm on a trail along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona, as per the statement released by Ben Hoster at Scottsdale police Sgt. Not too long ago, Haeger was perceived as a prime suspect in the fatal shooting of his 34-year-old ex-girlfriend Danielle Breed, as per her roommate.
Rumors went amok when Breed’s mother spoke to Fox10 News and reiterated how Haeger continued to harass her daughter long after they parted ways. It is believed that Breed wanted to seek legal help, a restraining order to keep the obsessed ex-pitcher away. Haeger reportedly wasn’t over his former lover and wanted to make it work.
“He was calling here and asking to, you know, get back together, and she’s like, ‘No, no, no, no, no,’” said Breed’s mom as per a recent report. Breed owned The Tipsy Coyote Bar and Grill in Scottsdale.
Police officer Hoster, in his statement, maintained Breed’s roommate heard gunshots after he came home Friday and that moments later, Haeger headed out of his ex’s bedroom holding a handgun. “Haeger then pointed the handgun at the roommate. The roommate quickly escaped out of the back of the residence, and he was able to get a neighbor to call 911,” said Hoster. Breed’s body was found lying in a pool of bed in her bedroom.
Hours later, the cops traced Haeger’s unoccupied vehicle near Flagstaff in northern Arizona. While Flagstaff is 118 miles north of Scottsdale, the reason behind Haeger’s quick trip remains to be unknown. Further probe into the case is likely to be underway.
Haeger was part of the Chicago White Sox in the year 2001 and went on to play for the Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers, and the like. The 37-year-old pitcher is said to have played 83 innings in the major leagues.
