New evidence shows that former governor Eliot Spitzer went by a different name back in February 2016 to check on a Russian escort that he had reportedly almost choked to death.
Moreover, Spitzer even allegedly mentioned the name of then-Police Commissioner Bill Braton to investigators who were checking on the case over at the Plaza Hotel where blood was found in the hotel room after Svetlana Travis-Zakharova allegedly slit her wrist.
At the time, Spitzer claimed that the blood was from the Russian’s menstrual cycle, the Post reported.
Year after that alleged incident, Travis-Zakharova reportedly threatened Spitzer of making things worse than 2008 after the latter resigned as governor. This was after it was learned that the ex-Governor was patronizing another prostitute.
The new findings cropped up in new documents revealing details of the incident. Travis-Zakharova accused Spitzer of assault, while the former Governor was batting extortion.
It was on Feb. 13, 2016, Spitzer met Travis-Zakharova “for a drink” in her $1,000-a-night Plaza Hotel suite, according to a March 15, 2016, preliminary investigation worksheet filed by Sgt. Michael Giuffre.
The female escort planned to move back to Russia for good but Spitzer allegedly prevented her from doing so. The Governor allegedly called her 30 times over the next three hours and threatened her, even attempting to prevent her from returning to Russia.
At about 7:00 p.m. on that day, Spitzer returned to Travis-Zakharova’s room and reportedly grabbed her by her wrists and threw her back on the bed. While standing over her, the perpetrator placed his [sic] onto her neck/throat and put pressure causing her not to be able to breathe for at least three (3) seconds, the report read.
The Russian allegedly told police that she took a wine glass, broke it and cut her wrist to get out of the room. Spitzer claims the blood found was from Travis-Zakharova’s menstrual cycle.
However, hospital footage backed up claims that Spitzer went to a hospital under the name of George Fox to check on Travix-Zakharova.
It was a controversial incident that went back and forth. Travis-Zakharova is now in Russia and pleaded guilty to attempted petit larceny in Manhattan Supreme Court in October 2017 after she tried to rob a man who co-signed her lease on a Manhattan apartment. She served a short jail sentence which was part of a plea deal per the Post.
