The tragic New Year's Day truck attack in New Orleans has claimed the lives of at least 14 people and injured approximately 30 others.

As officials work to confirm identities and notify next of kin, family and friends of the victims have begun sharing their stories, with nine victims being identified as of Thursday afternoon, AP reported.

Lives Lost

Billy DiMaio, 25: A media account executive from New York City, DiMaio was in New Orleans to celebrate New Year's and see friends. A graduate of Chestnut Hill College, he was remembered for his humility, devotion to family, and positive attitude.

LaTasha Polk, 47, was celebrating New Year's Eve with her brother, Prentiss Polk, who is still missing. Polk's family has set up a GoFundMe page to help her surviving teenage son meet his financial needs.

Hubert Gauthreaux, 21: An alumnus of Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana, Gauthreaux was described as a kind and beloved member of his school community.

Kareem Badawi, 18: A University of Alabama freshman, Badawi had recently graduated from the Episcopal School of Baton Rouge and aspired to make a meaningful impact in life.

Drew Dauphin: A recent Auburn University graduate, Dauphin worked as a process engineer at Honda and was remembered fondly by the Auburn community.

Matthew Tenedorio, 25: An audiovisual technician at the Superdome, Tenedorio was described as a kind, animal-loving individual with a bright future ahead of him.

Nikyra Dedeaux, 18: A Gulfport, Mississippi, native with dreams of becoming a nurse, Dedeaux was celebrated for her responsibility and ambition.

Reggie Hunter, 37: A father of two from Baton Rouge, Hunter was celebrating with family when he tragically lost his life.

Tiger Bech, 27: A former Princeton football star and investment trader, Bech was known for his charisma, intelligence, and athleticism.

Nicole Perez, 27: A single mother working to create a better future for her young son, Perez had recently been promoted to manager at a deli in Metairie, Louisiana.

Edward Pettifer, 31: The London native was a stepson to the former nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry.

Terrence Kennedy, 63: Terry, as he was called by family and friends, was born in New Orleans and was known as a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs.

Elliot Wilkinson, 40: Born in Sidell, Wilkinson had recently been released from prison and had been living on the streets.

Brandon Taylor, 43: Was born in Marrero, La., the youngest of two bothers and was engaged to be married. Family remembers him as a music lover who enjoyed rapping.

Injured Survivors

Jeremi Sensky, 51: A Pennsylvania tree service worker, Sensky endured 10 hours of surgery for severe injuries, including two broken legs. His family has expressed gratitude for his survival.

Ryan Quigley: A former Princeton football teammate of Tiger Bech, Quigley was injured in the attack and is recovering with the support of his family and friends.

University Students: A student from the University of Georgia and one from the University of Mississippi remain critically injured, while the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported two injured Israeli citizens.

The Aftermath

Witnesses described the chaos and devastation on Bourbon Street as the truck barreled into the crowd. Families of the victims have set up GoFundMe campaigns and expressed their grief over the loss of loved ones.

Authorities continue to investigate the attack and provide support to the victims' families and survivors. This tragedy has left a lasting impact on communities across the nation.
