Eva Longoria is a Latina we are proud of for making strides in Hollywood, politics and humanitarian work. The 39-year-old actress is eyeing her return to network television in a series-regular role for two different networks. One is an untitled comedy for ABC and the one that really has us excited is being developed at NBC, tentatively titled "Telenovela." According to Deadline, the latter series will be given a 13-episode commitment if Longoria agrees to star or a pilot order if she opts out. The premise of the show revolves around an ambitious telenovela star, who struggles to stay at the top of her game in an industry where the drama on-camera is nothing compared to the drama off-camera.
Best part of this deal is that because the main premise revolves around a fictitious telenovela, NBC has been talking to sister network Telemundo to produce episodes of the fake telenovela. These would then air on the Spanish-language network. The cross-promotion for the series will be uncanny and NBC seems to be really excited for it as they really want to woo Eva Longoria into doing the project, which we hope she accepts. This time Eva starring in a telenovela is no joke as our Día De Los Inocentes article claiming the "Desperate Housewives" star had signed with Televisa to star in a "Cuna De Lobos" remake went viral. It was a prank that we thought it was funny until news outlets picked up the story and ran with it thinking it was real. Longoria even had to step in and clear up that it was all rubbish.
What is true is that the "Devious Maids" producer will return to television as a guest star on the FOX comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." In the series starring Andy Samberg, Longoria will be featured in a three episode arc for the upcoming sophomore season. The actress will play a woman named Sophia who is a defense lawyer that catches the attention of Andy Samberg's character Jake when the two face off in court. So it seems that our prayers to the television Gods have been answer and we will have Eva back on television regularly in the near future. What project should Eva Longoria accept?
