Enrique Peña Nieto has been hailed by a French newspaper as a "reformer" of Mexico. Les Echos, the main economic newspaper in France, dedicated an issue in recognition of the President's economic and political reforms of his country. In an editorial titled "The Reforms of the Mexican President," Michel de Grandi explained what he called "reformatory movement" of Mexico in 2013 thanks to the work of president Enrique Peña Nieto.
Enrique Peña Nieto has been widely praised by the international media before: a few months ago, TIME ran a front cover calling the Mexican president the "savior" of Mexico. Les Echos continued the theme, saying that "these reforms are the result of a president who is clearly leaving his mark." The newspaper, which is considered a leader in economic journalism in Europe, argued that "Enrique Peña Nieto has a very appropriate manner of proceeding."
Les Echos continues by saying "the effect on the country's image has been immediate. By emphasizing reforms in security, the chief of State has altered the perception of Mexico from the outside...[He] developed the idea that it's a country that moves, that is modernizing and is leaving behind the idea of a country in the hands of drug lord, and he is making it a reality ... Enrique Peña Nieto has a goal: making Mexico the fourteenth most powerful economy in the world and the second in Latin America."
