Emma Watson is no longer "Hermione Granger" and she is certainly showing it. Her new British GQ cover shows her sexy image in a very "Pretty Woman" Julia Roberts-esque dress.
Watson looks all grown up with tousled waves, a suggestive hip tattoo and a skimpy stomach baring mini dress. But have no fear, Watson is not another Hollywood starlet on a downward spiral, she is dressed as her character, Nicki, from Sofia Coppola's upcoming film, "The Bling Ring."
The 22-year-old actress is expanded her roles in movies by taking on the sensual and mature role, with a big departure from the "Harry Potter" series that made her famous, Watson is enthusiastic about her new work.
"Really I was open-minded about doing anything, but the one thing I didn't want to do was get myself into a corset because I was worried I'd never get out again," she told British GQ. "I knew it would be a really comfortable thing to do, but I felt ... I had to dive into something really different. This has been a really big departure for me; it's a really big character. That's so exciting for me because it meant I was really acting."
"The Bling Ring" is Coppola's new film based off the infamous group of California teens who allegedly burglarized homes of popular celebrities like, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Audrina Patridge, Megan Fox and Miranda Kerr and stole their designer goods between 2008 and 2009. The teens became obsessed with the designer clothing, jewelry, bags and other accessories and apparently stole up to $3 million worth of goods.
Watson states that she jumped on the role after reading the script mostly because she hates what her character Nicki represents.
"The character is everything that I felt strongly against -- she's superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral. She's all of these things and I realized that I hated her. How do you play someone you hate? But I found it really interesting and it gave me a whole new insight into what my job, or my role as an actress, could be."
It seems that Watson is ready to shed her good girl image and expand her work as an actress. However, she is not willing to go too far. She quickly shot down a rumor that she is in talks to play Anastasia Steele in the big-screen adaptation of E. L. James' erotic S&M novel, "Fifty Shades of Grey."
