You might know him as the “Latin Lover Narrator” from CW’s “Jane The Virgin,” but now his beautiful voice takes on a new character for Disney’s animated series “Elena Of Avalor.” Anthony Mendez has been heard on promos for several networks including NBC, MTV (and MTV tr3s,) Spike, Comedy Central, Showtime, and CNN. He’s also the voice of HBO’s weekly Sports Minute. His first major on-air promo campaign was for CNN’s Latino in America.
He can be heard on movie trailers for major and independent studios alike, including Fox Searchlight, Warner Bros, IFC Films, and, most recently, the Hispanic TV campaign for Universal Pictures’ Ride Along 2 which opened at number one at the box office, dethroning Star Wars: The Force Awakens from the top spot. He’s narrated national network and regional campaigns for Wieden+Kennedy, Energy BBDO, Leo Burnett, and Kaplan Thaler.
Now he’s guest-starring on Disney’s “Elena of Avalor” as the voice of King Juan Ramón, a monarch from the Argentine-inspired Kingdom of Cordoba. Princess Elena of Avalor made her royal debut in the highly anticipated animated series “Elena of Avalor” in July 2016.
