Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, accused Boston Marathon bomber, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to all 30 counts charged. His arraignment is his first appearance since he was taken into custody.
Tsarnaev pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Wednesday as 30 Boston Marathon bombing survivors sat present and staring at the man accused of killing four innocent people.
Tsarnaev is charged with a 30-count indictment that charges him with using weapons of mass destruction and killing four people. The 8-minute arraignment hearing is the first public appearance of the 19-year-old since he was carried wounded from his hide out boat in Watertown, Massachusetts. Boston police caught Tsarnaev four days after he allegedly dropped twin pressure cooker bombs near the finish line of the April 15 race.
Tsarnaev wore an orange jail jumpsuit, and also sported a cast of sorts on his left hand. "Not guilty," he said over and over as each charge was read, he also smiled a very uneasy smile throughout the tension filled 8 minutes. The accused teen will return to court Sept. 23.
