A knife-wielding drunk patient has been arrested by police after he bit an emergency services worker and briefly took the first responders' ambulance on a joy ride in the Bronx on Monday.

The offender, Daniel Corby, 26, of Canarsie, Brooklyn, has been charged with robbery and possession of a knife following the incident, according to the New York Daily News.

He was being transported by two EMTs to St. Barnabas Hospital around 4 a.m. on Monday when he unbuckled himself and attacked the men onboard.

Corby reportedly threatened the first responders with a knife and struggled with the two men. He allegedly then bit, scratched, and punched the workers, forcing the driver to hit the brakes and pull over outside the Bronx Zoo on E. Fordham Road near Southern Blvd.

Corby would then briefly hijack the ambulance, driving off while the EMTs remained inside. Police later caught up to the suspect in East Harlem and subsequently arrested him, the New York Post reported.

The EMTs sustained minor injuries from the scuffle after Corby reportedly bit one of them in the hand. They also had scratch marks and bruises on their arms after the suspect went berserk.

“It just happened super quick, and my first reaction was to help my partner,” one of the EMTs, who wishes to remain anonymous, said.

Last month, an emergency responder identified as Jacob Dindinger, 20, died after succumbing to injuries sustained in a deadly July 18 shooting in Tucson.

Dindinger's employer, the American Medical Response of Southern Arizona, announced the unfortunate news on its Facebook page.

According to EMS1, he was shot in the head by suspect Stephen Scarlett, 35, who also died following a police standoff. A responding cop shot the suspect at the scene at Silverlake Park, where Dindinger and a colleague were deployed during a house fire.

Cops claimed that the attacker held the EMS providers at gunpoint, looking away as he shot. Scarlett then left Dindinger, who was in the driver's seat of the ambulance, critically injured from a headshot. The other EMT, who was shot in the arm and chest, managed to call for help.

The incident also claimed the life of a resident, 44-year-old Cory Saunders, while a firefighter sustained gunshot wounds in the arm.
