A drunk man and his cousin stoned the former’s elderly father to death when he confronted the duo for peeing outside his home.
The deceased, 62-year-old Krishna was killed during the heated argument that broke out outside his home in the Faruknagar area of Gurugram, Haryana, India on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
The victim’s eldest son, Sandeep has filed a complaint accusing his brother, Mandeep, and his cousin, Mohit Dahiya of murdering their father.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case of murder against both the accused.
According to the police, Sandeep stated in his complaint that his brother, an alcoholic, came home on Tuesday night along with their cousin.
The duo was reportedly in an inebriated state and was urinating outside their house when their mother stormed out and tried to stop them, Sandeep told police.
“My mother shouted at them and asked them to stop. They started arguing with my mother and attacked her with stones,” Sandeep stated in his complaint, the Times of India reported.
Krishna heard the commotion and rushed for his wife’s rescue, but the men attacked him too. They allegedly threw a big stone at him which struck him on the head.
Krishna collapsed on the ground where he eventually bled to death. Meanwhile, the suspects had already fled the scene.
The police were alerted and the responding officials transported the body to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. The body was later handed over to the victim’s family for performing his last rites.
The police have registered a case and charged the suspects under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). No arrests have been reported yet.
A police source said the suspects are on the run and efforts are being put in to track their whereabouts. A further probe is underway.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a drunk man allegedly killed his three-month-old infant son by smashing his head against a wall following a heated argument with his wife. The incident happened in Bhalswa Dairy, Delhi, India on Dec. 3.
The accused, 26-year-old Ravi Rai, reportedly returned home in an inebriated state and got into an altercation with his wife.
During the argument, Rai, in a fit of rage, allegedly held his three-month-old infant child by the legs and bashed his head against a wall,
The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Rai has been arrested and remains in police custody.
