Despite highly conflated rumors of paralysis and broken bones after a supposed car accident, rest easy, Drew Brees is just fine. He said so himself on his Twitter after rumors popped up June 21 that the Saints quarterback had suffered serious injury, the Examiner reported. The reports caused a frenzy on social media as fans worried about his life and career, The origin of the rumors remains a mystery along with other fake death and injury hoaxes that have gone viral on the Internet.
"I am fine. Not sure where the car accident story came from. It is not true. I appreciate everyone's concern but I am ALL GOOD (sic)," Brees tweeted Friday.
While some of the speculation got wild, there were also a few that cited fake sources and police reports that stated that Brees sustained only minor, non-life-threatening injuries over the weekend, UPI reported. Brees wasn't the only one with falsities being spread about him during the weekend. Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and quarterback Matt Ryan also took to Twitter to dispel rumors about breaking their legs in car accidents.
"Thanks to all my fam & fans for texts, calls & tweets checking on me. Trust me I'm fine - no accident, no broken legs! #internethoax," Jones tweeted Saturday.
