Sometimes the mistakes we made a while ago come back to haunt us years later. In 2009 Don Walling was proposing to his girlfriend Gina Pellicani on the Brooklyn Bridge when he dropped the ring. The ring fell through a crack in the pedestrian walkway and onto the street. His proposal blunder has come alive again all over the Internet.
In 2009 after Don Walling dropped the ring off the Brooklyn Bridge he later spoke with Ann Curry on NBC's the Today Show.
Walling explained that he got down on one knee opened the box and the ring flew out. Not wanting to disappoint his fiancé Walling decided to retrieve the ring. The ring was on the road with busy NYC cars and trucks buzzing passed.
"I kissed her on the forehead said I love you, I'm sorry but I've got to get that ring back," Walling explained his reaction on the Today Show.
"The next thing I heard was 'Is he jumping," Gina Pellicani told the Today Show. Don Walling had climbed down the bridge and onto the road in order to get the ring he dropped.
The entire incident was captured on film. Pellicani's family had been recording waiting for Walling to pop the question.
Don Walling was able to find the ring and return it to his fiancé. Before the incident was laid to rest NYPD showed up not realizing Don Walling was just a man in search of a ring and not a jumper.
The Inquisitr reports that once the police realized what had happened they stopped traffic in order for Walling to find the ring. The diamonds in the ring were intact and the platinum band had only a small ding from being run over.
On the Today Show Walling wanted to make one thing very clear "I didn't drop the ring," he said, "It fell out of the box."
