Mixed Martial Arts fighter, and known fugitive, War Machine was taken into custody on Friday in Simi Valley, CA on suspicion of severely beating his ex-girlfriend, porn-star, Christy Mack in Las Vegas last week.

Mack released a statement on twitter with photos, evidence, and a detailed summary of what happened on the night in question. According to Mack, War Machine (who’s real name is Jon Koppenhaver), showed up unannounced at Mack’s home in Las Vegas. Mack was with a friend named Corey Thomas at the time, and immediately upon finding the two together, War Machine assaulted Thomas breaking his nose and giving him two back eyes before throwing him out of the house. He then set his sights on Mack who he made shower in front of him before trying to rape her. After beating her so severely that she suffered 18 broken bones, broken teeth and a ruptured liver, he grabbed a dull knife from the kitchen and sawed off all her hair. When War Machine went back to the kitchen to get a better knife, Mack apparently took off through the back door and ran for her life. Neighbors found her and took her to the hospital.

War Machine then went on the run until being captured on Friday. War Machine, who has a history of violence and a criminal past, was arrested in 2009 for choking someone unconscious in Las Vegas. In 2010, he was convicted of an assault for a beating he gave a man in a bar in 2010. He spent time in jail after the latter incident and was convicted again for attempt to commit batter with substantial harm in 2012.

War Machine who is of Mexican descent, takes misogyny to a new level. He once tweeted that he had just “raped” Mack because she wanted to wait til after she ran some errands to have sex with him. Later, in 2013 in a live television interview, he joked that if he and Mack ever broke up, he would simply “kill her” and have the words “R.I.P.” tattooed above her name on his neck. As a professional MMA fighter, War Machine was paltry at best. He lost his only PPV fight in 2008 after appearing on the show “The Ultimate Fighter,” before bouncing around from various MMA companies. He found a home with Bellator, an MMA promotion company out of Las Vegas, but lost his last fight in October of 2013.

Bellator President, Scott Coker, announced that his company was dissolving its contract with War Machine after news broke of his attack on Mack.

Dog “the Bounty Hunter” Chapman had joined in on the manhunt for War Machine and was close to catching the fugitive before U.S. Marshals and Simi Valley police found him hiding out in a cheap hotel. Minutes after the capture was announced, Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife Beth were seen at War Machine’s home in San Diego, helping rescue his exotic snakes who were taken to nearby wildlife facilities. Beth tweeted out the following after his capture:

War Machine is currently in the Ventura County Jail awaiting extradition to Nevada. Court records from earlier this week state that he is wanted on suspicion of domestic battery, strangulation, lewdness, assault and coercion. If convicted on all the charges and with his previous convictions, he could face up 25 years to life in prison.
