Disney Working On A 'Rapunzel' Live-Action Film, Who Should Play As Rapunzel?

“Rapunzel” is one of the favorite Disney animations that have been adapted into TV series and movie sequels. Now it was reported that it will be getting its live-action version and it is in the works already.

As per the DisInsider, “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” writer Ashleigh Powell has been tasked to write the script while Kristin Burr and Michael De Luca will serve as the producers.

As for the director for this rumored live-action “Rapunzel” movie, the production team is still looking for the best one to do the job.

Disney produced “Tangled Ever After” in 2012 and this “Rapunzel” film was adapted into TV series in 2017 when Disney released the “Tangled The Series” that regularly airs on Disney Channel. Apparently, it is one of the most popular animated films from Walt Disney’s studio so it is continuously being developed.

In fact, the “Tangled” was a huge hit, grossing about $592 million worldwide which is double of what “The Princess and the Frog” earned at the box-office in 2009. The movie featured the voices of Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider.

Now, for the rumored upcoming live-action movie, who could be playing the lead roles in the beloved animation? This is an important question and although there is no news about it yet, IMDb suggested a dream cast list if the “Rapunzel” live-action movie is true.

For the titular role, it was said that Amanda Seyfried would be a perfect fit for the character. She starred in the 2012 epic historical period musical film “Les Miserables” and she really did an amazing job and this may be why her name was dropped for the “Rapunzel” role.

For the antagonist, Mother Gothel could be best played by Susan Sarandon. She is an American actress of Italian descent. She is a multi-awarded actress who received an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a British Academy Film Award and was a nominee for nine Golden Globe Awards.

Rapunzel’s love interest, Jonathan David Bennett could play Flynn Rider. He is an experienced actor with several TV drama series under his belt and all of them are successful shows.

Meanwhile, although Disney has yet to make an announcement with regards to the rumored production of “Rapunzel” live-action film, fans got excited when the studio posted a side by side of "Tangled" storybook to the animated film video on Feb. 15. It was captioned: “Disney Side by Side: Tangled. See Rapunzel and Flynn in a new light!” and fans are speculating that this could be a hint that the movie is happening.
