Disgraced rapper and music producer Sean "Diddy" Combs was discreetly transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) to the Brooklyn Hospital Center due to severe knee pain.
Reports over the weekend indicate that the move was made discreetly to avoid drawing attention from other inmates and prison staff. After undergoing an MRI scan, Combs was returned to his cell without requiring further hospitalization.
Diddy's situation
This was the first time Combs left the facility since his arrest on September 17, 2024. The 55-year-old artist is currently awaiting trial on federal charges, including sex trafficking, extortion, and prostitution.
Authorities allege that for over a decade Diddy used his record label, Bad Boy Records, as a "criminal enterprise," orchestrating abuse against multiple women and organizing illicit gatherings known as "Freak-Offs."
At these events, participants were allegedly coerced into performing sexual acts while Combs secretly recorded them. The footage was reportedly used as leverage against victims. Combs has denied all allegations, and his trial is set to begin on May 5.
What happened?
The late-night hospital transfer sparked speculation about possible incidents in jail, such as a fight or a serious medical emergency. However, sources close to the case clarified that the visit was scheduled due to ongoing knee pain, a condition that has worsened over time.
Combs has a well-documented history of knee issues, particularly following his participation in the New York City Marathon, which required multiple surgeries.
In 2020, he revealed on social media that he had undergone his fourth surgery in two years, including procedures on his rotator cuffs, a knee replacement, and a quadriceps operation. At the time, he stated: "I'm clumsy. I trip. I fall. I fall in holes. It's always been like that. This is my fourth surgery in two years. I've had two rotator cuffs, a knee replacement, and now it's on quad. At the end of the day, this is God's work of slow me down."
Despite multiple attempts to secure his release, Combs has remained in Brooklyn's MDC without bail since his arrest. Recent reports suggest that his time in prison has taken a toll on both his physical and mental health.
