Prince William and Kate Middleton may have just confirmed their split from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Earlier this week, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have removed all references of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from their charity.
Rumors of a full-blown rift involving the Sussexes and the Cambridges have been swirling around for months now. After Prince Harry and Meghan moved to Frogmore and split courts with Prince William and Kate, many believed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were already planning to have their own way of doing things. Now it looks like Prince William and Kate are planning to do just the same.
The documents issued by Companies House reveal that Prince William and Kate have removed all traces of Prince Harry and Meghan from their charity. Before Prince Harry and Meghan detached themselves from the Cambridges by setting up their own charity, the charity in question had been known as the Royal Foundation of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge & Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
With Prince William and Kate splitting responsibilities with Prince Harry and Meghan, the charity is now called The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, indicating that their previous collaboration has now been dissolved. The Palace publicized the “Change of Name” form of the charity, confirming the split.
Before Prince William and Kate removed Prince Harry and Meghan from their charity, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had already revealed their plans to have their own charity. Earlier this year, Prince Harry and Meghan set up the Sussex Royal Foundation in their bid to promote their own cause exclusively under the Sussex brand. Just this week, the royal couple announced that Kate Blackett would serve as its director.
While Prince William and Kate’s recent move sparked speculations that the royal feud involving the “Fab Four” is true, a source from the Palace said the change of name of the charity had nothing to do with the rumored split.
“It was largely about preparing both couples for their future roles, which are obviously on divergent tracks,” the source said, adding that the name change was merely an administrative necessity.
