Episode 3 of Season 5 of “Fear The Walking Dead” finally brings the much-awaited character cross-over of Austin Amelio’s Dwight into Morgan’s group of survivors. Dwight appears as another person to help for the “Fear” group as he has been looking for Sherry (Christine Evangelista) ever since he had been exiled by Daryl (Norman Reedus) a year back. The numerous clues that Sherry has been leaving on the show points to a huge possibility that Sherry’s fate may be revealed in the “Fear” franchise.

“If this episode shows us anything, it’s that he’s definitely not giving up on his search for Sherry,” said Ian Goldberg — co-showrunner of “Fear The Walking Dead” — about the episode released last Monday. “Dorie and June give him a kind of renewed energy and hope that she could still be out there. And so he’s going to continue to search. But along with that, he’s going to do the other thing that Daryl told him to do, which is make it right,” he continued.

Definitely, Dwight’s road to redemption fills in completely with the current Morgan-directed path of the “Fear” survivors. His promise to Daryl was to make things right, and this provides the best opportunity for the anti-hero to make amends for the things he had done. His twofold mission is definitely to be a “dark” and “heavy” one, as promised by Austin Amelio in WonderCon.

“He’s probably in the darkest spot he’s ever been in ... it is heavy,” he said. “Dwight has definitely been in tough spots on The Walking Dead, it just, it gets tougher for him.”

This says much about Dwight’s state of mind in the recently released episode and the possible reveal of Dwight’s wife, Sherry, in the “Fear” series. Dwight had hit a rut in his search and was losing hope, up until John and June helped him find an escape — after his confession inside the car in the middle of a zombie horde. According to a theory on YouTube, this seems to be a homage to Rick Grime’s scene in “The Walking Dead,” where Glenn helps him out while he’s stuck inside a tank.

Dwight, like Rick on TWD, just wants to find his family. Following this line of thinking, he may later on find Sherry with another group of survivors, ultimately changing his current status of being lost and alone. However, Sherry’s plan is definitely an enigma, and Dwight does not seem to be any closer to finding her as of yet.

The previously mentioned YouTube video theorizes that Sherry has indeed found a new group but is instead misleading Dwight because she got caught up with a “bad” group. This seems unlikely as the misdirection is too well placed for him to find new clues even if she’s leading him “away.” Currently, however, no official announcement has been made as to Sherry’s fate or appearance.
