And he rose from the ashes like a phoenix. Alejandro Fernández, also known as "El Potrillo" reappeared in the spotlight a few weeks ago in a new Nescafe Mexico commercial, where he looked at least 10 years younger. A source close to the Fernández family said at the time that Alejandro, a fan of botox, decided that an injection was not enough this time around, and underwent cosmetic surgery ahead of the release of his new album, "Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti."
"Look, botox has been something that Alejandro has used for a while now, but this time, besides that, he also went to get a face lift, and to get the little bags of fat under his eyes removed," said the source. "Alejandro had been wanting a few touch-ups for a long time, and I think he paid around US $10,000, but I think that's nothing considering he looks 10 years younger. It was an excellent job and he did it ahead of the promotion for his new record."
The singer fired back, saying that the only thing he did was to leave his drunken past behind. "I didn't do anything that's supposed to be a secret. I just decided to lead a healthier life, exercise, eat clean, and say goodbye to excessive partying. I dyed my hair and that's the only thing I've done to feel a million bucks," he said.
However, Gustavo González Saldívar, a cosmetic surgeon and member of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Society of Mexico, said that all the signs of Alejandro Fernández's face point towards a plastic surgery. "He looks amazing, however, I feel like it's not him. In fact, he looks like his older brother," said the doctor, adding later that the basic principle of a cosmetic surgery is to look as natural as possible, which, according to him, the singer didn't get from his procedure.
"It's about looking fresh, relaxed, younger, but never to look like a whole new person. I do think his features were modified, and you can tell by looking at his picture. He is a good looking young man, but he is not "El Potrillo" anymore," González Saldívar added.
The doctor said that Alejandro got a facial rhytidectomy, also known as facelift. "I think they extended the procedure to his whole face and it was impeccably done, since you can't see any traces of scars. He probably got it done a few months ago because he doesn't look swollen, although his expression is a little funky," he expressed.
The surgeon added that it looks like the singer also got a hair transplant, dyed it, and maybe even got laser treatment to make his face look even younger.
Take a look at the picture above and tell us if you see a difference between the "old" and the "new" Alejandro. Do you think he underwent cosmetic surgery? What differences do you see?
