Production for the new romantic comedy "Despertar Contigo" has commenced in México. The new Televisa telenovela starring Daniel Arenas and Ela Velden is produced by Pedro Damián, who has brought us unforgettable gems like "Rebelde," "Clase 406" and most recently "Muchacha Italiana Viene A Casarse." This new show will premiere in August in México on El Canal De Las Estrellas and hopefully on Univision in the United States soon after.
The cast includes Christian Chávez. who is making a return to melodramas. Also included in the cast are Leticia Huijara ("Montecristo"), Rodrigo Murray ("Señorita Pólvora"), Ana Cioccheti ("Fortuna"), Ana Cristina Geithner ("Siempre Tuya Acapulco"), Sara Corrales ("El Señor De Los Cielos"), Alejandro Calva ("Señora Acero"), Arturo García Tenorio ("Corazón Salvaje"), Armando Silvestre ("La Impostora") and many more. We can also expect the appearances of Marcus Ornellas ("A Que No Me Dejas"), Enoc Leaño ("La Querida Del Centauro"), Estefania Villareal ("Yo No Creo En Los Hombres"), Gonzalo Peña ("El Hotel De Los Secretos") and Sebastián Poza (son of actors Jorge Poza and Mayrín Villanueva).
The series is the first leading role in a telenovela for Velden. She was previously seen on "Muchacha Italiana Viene A Casarse" where she played Fiorella's little sister. Damián also produced that telenovela and that is how he thought launching Velden in a starring role would be a great idea since she connected with audiences. The actress also won a Premios TVyNovelas 2016 award as Best Revelation for her role in the series. Her biggest challenge is proving she is leading-lady material and we are sure she will pass the test.
Arenas has been a judge on "Nuestra Belleza Latina VIP" this season, but we have been missing him in telenovelas. His last project was "La Gata" where he co-starred alongside Maite Perroni. The Colombian actor was attached to star opposite Paulina Goto on "Un Camino Hacia El Destino" but he opted to go for a different project. Arenas decided to say yes to producer Angelli Nesma to star opposite Boyer on "Tres Veces Ana." That did not end up panning out and he exited the telenovela with no confirmation as to why. Nonetheless he will be back with "Despertar Contigo" this year. Arenas previously starred in soaps like "Amorcito Corazón" and "Teresa."
