Televisa has started the production of one of its new telenovelas called "Despertar Contigo." Daniel Arenas and Ela Velden were just confirmed a couple days ago as the lead couple of this series from Pedro Damián. Also joining them is Christian Chávez, who is returning to the small screen after finishing "Rebelde." For Chávez, it is a reunion with Damián who also produced the production.
The cast also includes Marcus Ornellas, Aura Cristina Geithner, Ana Ciocchetti, Rodrigo Murray, Sara Corrales (Matilde from "El Señor De Los Cielos 1 & 2"), Enoc Leaño, Estefania Villareal, Gonzalo Peña, and making his debut Sebastián Poza (son of actors Jorge Poza and Mayrin Villanueva). "Despertar Contigo" is slated to premiere in the coming weeks in México following the finale of "Un Camino Hacia El Destino." There is no confirmation of when Univision plans on airing this telenovela in the states.
This marks the first lead role for Velden in a telenovela. She was previously seen on "Muchacha Italiana Viene A Casarse," where she played Fiorella's little sister. Damián also produced that telenovela and he thought launching Velden in a starring role would be a great idea since she connected with audiences. Velden also won a Premios TVyNovelas 2016 award as Best Revelation for her role in the series. Her biggest challenge is proving she is leading-lady material and we are sure she will pass the test.
Arenas has been a judge on "Nuestra Belleza Latina VIP" this season, but we have been missing him in telenovelas. His last project was "La Gata" where he co-starred alongside Maite Perroni. The Colombian actor was attached to star opposite Paulina Goto on "Un Camino Hacia El Destino" but he opted to go for a different project. Arenas decided to say yes to producer Angelli Nesma to star opposite Angelique Boyer on "Tres Veces Ana." That did not end up panning out and he exited the telenovela with no confirmation as to why. Nonetheless, he will be back with "Despertar Contigo" this year. Daniel Arenas previously starred in soaps like "Amorcito Corazón" and "Teresa."
