Demi Lovato made artists who depict art in their own respective ways wary after she blasted Vladimir Serbanescu, a 17-year-old artist from Romania.
Two months ago, Serbanescu posted a drawing of Lovato as a mermaid. It’s one of his many illustrations of celebrities, including Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner, according to Cosmopolitan.
Here is the one he did of Bella Hadid.
Here is the drawing of Lovato, portrayed as a mermaid ...
It's based on a photo Lovato posted on Instagram promoting her new song "Body Say."
The mermaid drawing caused Lovato to comment "Is that how my boobs should look? It's gorgeous but that's not my body."
He responded that that was his artistic view and was not necessarily supposed to be exact. He suddenly was not pleased with his work. He responded by saying "I worked a lot on that drawing and I was proud of it, but not anymore."
But that’s not where things ended. A Twitter user took Serbanescu’s original image and manipulated it to make Lovato’s body actually larger than it is. That image got more than 40,000 retweets and 62,000 likes on Twitter. Lovato even liked the tweet!
Though Demi got support for her actions from some, she also got negative feedback for the way she chose to deal with the issue, even getting into a feud of sorts with Camila Cabello of Fifth Harmony who supported the artist and others who draw fan art.
"I can barely draw stick figures and look atchu doin yo thaaang," Camila posted a few hours after Lovato's comments.
