Everyone probably longs to live in a castle, so it won’t come as a surprise for moneyed folks, like retired soccer player David Beckham and his stunning fashion designer and Spice Girl member wife, Victoria Beckham, to want to buy one. In fact, that’s exactly the story published by a magazine recently.
The story came from OK! magazine in an article titled “David And Victoria’s Castle Hunt,” according to fact-checking site Gossip Cop. David and Victoria Beckham, who got married in Ireland’s Luttrellstown Castle 20 years ago in 1999, are reportedly thinking that it would be a fitting way to celebrate their two decades of marriage by owning one themselves.
The Beckhams even have a rough idea where the castle should be ideally located. “They’re looking for something historic, most likely in Spain, and money is no object,” a supposed source told OK!
Another requirement they have of their future home is that it needs to be very luxurious, especially since the couple recently toured Versailles privately. “They’d love to settle down in a space that’s just as opulent,” the tipster added.
“They’ve always enjoyed exploring castles together, it’s kind of their thing,” the source also said. “Now they’ve decided it’s time to take the leap and find one they can turn into a home.”
However, Gossip Cop did a little checking and found out that the story is simply untrue. Apparently, the couple is not planning to buy a castle, whether it’s located in Spain or elsewhere, at the moment. Victoria’s rep even described the story as “tabloid nonsense.”
While purchasing a castle might not be in their plans, they could certainly afford one. David and Victoria’s combined estimated net worth is estimated to be $900 million, according to Business Insider.
They might not own a luxurious castle, but they still live in opulence in their London townhouse. The property, which is located in Holland Park, West London, is estimated to be worth around £31.5 million or $40 million. Their family moved into their new home in 2016 after spending £8 million on a renovation.
