Daddy Yankee's sexual orientation has been the center of Spanish media speculation, claiming the rapper is gay. The reggaeton star, known for his raunchy musical songs like "Gasolina," is claiming that he is not gay.

The story is a bit confusing, there are multiple reports that on Wednesday photos of a man resembling Daddy Yankee kissing another man surfaced on the internet, after the photos were released Daddy Yankee apparently released a statement acknowledging his homosexuality and asking for respect and privacy.

The statement supposedly reads:

"Yesterday some pictures were exposed, and I wasn't ready to talk about this afraid of rejection and criticism, but above all for my family and the consequences. I think it's time for me to grow up as a human being and in every area of my life. I believe that love is the most pure feeling in the world, and having the chance to share those moments with someone, someone who makes you forget all the negativity, is a gift from life, and I treasure it more than myself ... I don't want to lie and lie to myself out of fear, I love what I do and who I am, my passion, I would never be able to do something different, I feel really bad for keeping this from my friends, I'm worried about them, so I decided to be honest, I hope you can see beyond this news, I'm human like anyone else, with flaws and qualities, and I don't think this is a flaw, I won't deny it."

However, according to other reports the 36-year-old singer used the press conference to deny the rumors and blast online media for spreading falsehoods, by apparently stating "Now, again to you ignorant ones: the Internet is where the lies become truth and truth becomes myth. Wake up, bobo!"

The buzz around Daddy Yankee's sexual orientation began after a press conference where he gave his opinion on gay marriage.

"I have people on my team who are gay, and I respect them entirely and give them work."

The rumor mill continues, Daddy Yankee's publicist has refuted rumors that the Puerto Rican reggaeton artist had publicly acknowledged he is gay.

Wednesday afternoon, the offices of Nevarez Communications and Perfect Partners in Florida issued a statement that reports circulating throughout various social media outlets regarding the artist's sexual orientation were completely false.
