Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo attended training at Old Trafford in preparation for Manchester United's game against Liverpool on Tuesday.
United are now at the bottom of the Premier League table as Erik ten Hag's side suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats. Man Utd suffered a 2-1 loss against Brighton, followed by a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Brentford.
Ten Hag reportedly demanded a change in mindset and attitude of the players following their losses this season. "I think I made myself clear, I was definitely not happy," ten Hag said. "It starts with yourself, act as a team, follow the rules and principles and work hard, as hard as you can maximize and if you do that you can get confidence."
"We work from game to game, and Liverpool, obviously we know what's going on when we play Liverpool - you have to be ready and to fight yourself into the season but it's from game to game," the former Ajax boss added.
The Red Devils arrived at the Carrington field to get in form ahead of their game with Liverpool. Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford were all at the training. Anthony Martial, who was absent from United's first two games due to his injury, also made it back to the training session and will reportedly play in the upcoming match.
Ronaldo, who previously confirmed his desire to exit Old Trafford, actively participated in the practice despite having an uncertain future with the team. It is still unsure whether the Portuguese footballer will be included in United's starting 11. Still, he appeared more focused on strengthening his skills for the team; he uploaded photos of himself during the team's seemingly intense training.
The 37-year-old striker missed the Man Utd pre-season tour in Thailand and Australia due to "family reasons." He came back to action with a 45-minute play in United's friendly match against Rayo Vallecana. Ronaldo was then put on the bench during their opening game against Brighton because of his lack of match fitness.
Meanwhile, Ten Hag is about to seal the deal with Ronaldo's Real Madrid teammate Carlos Henrique Casimiro, known as Casemiro, which could total £60 million ($71 million). At the same time, the club put an end to their pursuit of Frenkie de Jong after the midfielder rejected any transfer discussion with the team.
