Cristiano Ronaldo and Pau Torres swapped shirts after the final whistle of Portugal and Spain's 1-1 draw in the UEFA Nations League on Thursday.
After the game, Manchester United star Ronaldo was photographed swapping shirts with Torres. The two, known to be close rivals, played in their first game for their Nations League campaign. Supporters immediately paid attention and discussed the specific gesture as the Spanish defender has been consistently linked with a move away from Villarreal this summer. According to sources, Man Utd is very much interested in the player. Red Devils is believed to possibly make an offer as Erik ten Hag is in search of players for the upcoming transfer window.
However, Ten Hag's primary defensive target this summer window, is Jurrien Timber; United is reported to be still in negotiations for the player.
Meanwhile, according to Fabrizio Romano, Torres has a release clause worth €55 to 60 million ($59 to 65 million). United are still discussing whether to sign in Torres as one of their options for the new center back. It is still uncertain whether United would pursue a deal for both players following Ten Hag's claim that United's defensive issues is the team's priority to solve this summer.
Portugal and Spain had a 1-1 draw in their first game of the UEFA Nations League. Alvaro Morata scored for Spain in the first half of Nations League A Group 2 after 25 minutes of play with a goal assisted by Pablo Sarabia. Portugal then immediately made an effort to equalize in the second half around the 82nd minute through Ricardo Horta, assisted by Manchester City's Joao Cancelo.
Portugal and Spain are considered strong contenders to win the UEFA Nations League competition. The Portugal team won the first edition of the competition in 2019 as Ronaldo went for his third international trophy. Meanwhile, Spain is eager to make it to the finals after losing to France last October; Ferran Torres leads the team with an impressive 13 goals in all 24 matches for Spain. Ansu Fati and midfield veterans Sergio Busquets, Koke, Rodri and other skilled players also joined the team.
