Manchester United's striker Cristiano Ronaldo shared a touching photo of himself with his newborn daughter on Saturday.
Ronaldo posted a black and white image on Instagram featuring himself cradling his baby girl, with the caption "Forever Love" plus a love heart emoji. The newborn looked adorable with a knitted hat. Ronaldo and his longtime partner Georgina Rodrigues have yet to announce a name for their little girl amid their son, who had died at birth on April 18
Ronaldo announced his and Rodriguez's tragic loss on Instagram. "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel." In October, the couple officially shared that they were expecting twins, followed by Rodriguez confirming she was carrying a boy and girl in a heartwarming video of their gender reveal.
"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."
Ronaldo also previously posted a family picture alongside Rodriguez, their newborn girl, and his other four children on Instagram after returning home from the hospital. He expressed gratitude to fans, friends and family who prayed and fully gave support for their recovery.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo was absent in the Red Devils' previous 4-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, where both sets of players wore black armbands and fans held a minute's silence to show support for Ronaldo and his family. He came back to training with Manchester United on April 20 in preparation for their game with Arsenal, wherein he scored his 100th Premier League goal during the clash.
Rodriguez then posted a photograph of the Portuguese footballer raising his left arm to the sky in tribute to their baby boy who passed away. The 28-year-old model reportedly placed her trust in University Hospital Quironsalud Madrid for her pregnancy; she was spotted going to the hospital during her visit to the Spanish capital in January with Ronaldo.
