Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been once again named as the April 2022 Premier League's Player of the Month.
Ronaldo showcased outstanding and one-of-a-kind form throughout the month of April, scoring five times in just four matches for Man Utd, including another historical hat-trick against Norwich City at Old Trafford, which helped and resulted in the team's impressive 3-2 victory; considered his 50th club hat-trick.
Despite Ralf Rangnick's side's inconsistent performance, Ronaldo managed to win this month's award. The 37-year-old Portuguese footballer took home the prestigious player of the month award for the sixth time. He currently has the most among any Red Devil players in the competition, overtaking Wayne Rooney's five wins.
Ronaldo also became the fourth Man Utd player to reach the 100th Premier League goal, others were Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Rooney. Ronaldo made the historic strike during the team's match against Arsenal. Then, his 101st goal soon followed, as Ronaldo secured a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
It is the second time CR7 has won the Premier League honor since he returned to English football in the summer; he also stood on top in September. The legendary star was also announced the league's best player in November and December 2006 and was also presented with the trophy for his performance in January and March during the 2007/08 campaign.
The forward won among the other shortlisted candidates — Nathan Collins, Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Guimaraes, Gabriel Jesus, Son Heung-min, Thiago and Leandro Trossard.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo missed Man Utd's Premier League game against Liverpool due to the passing of his newborn son. He returned in the next match against Arsenal. During United's match against rival Liverpool, home fans at Anfield gave tribute to Ronaldo. To show support, they sang their anthem, "You'll Never Walk Alone."
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner and long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez, confirmed that they were expecting twins in October. Unfortunately, the couple recently announced the death of their baby boy during childbirth. Man Utd and a lot of their friends and fans wished and prayed for the whole family's fast recovery.
