Costa Rica meets England on Tuesday in a Group D match up in the 2014 World Cup which will certainly be an entertaining match. England is on its way home after its match with the Ticos after a miserable start to the World Cup losing both its previous group matches to Uruguay and Italy respectively. Costa Rica on the other hand has been one of the pleasant surprises of this year’s Cup, wining both its opening match against Italy and Uruguay in strong fashion.
This is the first time that Costa Rica has made it to the final 16 Round since 1990 so the Ticos will be doing all they can against England to get the three points to maximize their position for the next round.
Costa Rica has been led by star forward Joel Campbell, who has been on a tear in this year’s World Cup. Campbell, who plays in England for Arsenal, has been a threat in both of the Tico’s previous two matches and look for the same as he meets some of his EPL counterparts on the field wearing the England jersey. So far Campbell has one goal which came in the Uruguay match and it was a beauty.
England will look to field a different look and utilize some of the other roster players who made the trip to Brazil as Head Coach Roy Hodgson needs to save some face before they all board the next flight back to England.
Look for a change in goal for England as Ben Foster may get the start over Roy Hart and also look for Frank Lampart and Jack Wilshere to replace Steven Gerrard and Jordon Henderson.
The game is set to kick off at 12:00 PM EST at the Estadio Mineirao in Brasilia. It can be seen on ESPN 2 and in Spanish on Univision. If you want to live stream the match, simply go to WatchESPN here and here for a live stream in Spanish.
