A famed former crypto executive turned convict has drawn attention for bragging about starting a new role as a prison inmate on a LinkedIn post.

Ryan Salame, former Co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets is set to serve a seven and a half year prison sentence for fraud and conspiracy at FCI Cumberland in Allegany County, Maryland, according to NBC New York.

Salame gained notoriety after helping expose CEO Sam Bankman-Fried's fraudulent activities that led to over $8 billion in lost customer funds, the outlet reported.

Salame was scheduled to begin serving his sentence Friday, October 11, but has asked to delay his surrender until December 7 due to alleged dog-related injuries, as stated in court documents.

Despite seeking a delay in serving his sentence, Salame took to LinkedIn on October 10 to announce a new position as an inmate, citing skills like "cleaning and whittling" on his profile.

Salame's new LinkedIn announcement reads: "I'm happy to share that I'm starting a new position as Inmate at FCI Cumberland!"

The post has received more than 15,000 comments and over 17,000 reactions from other users.

The same day, Salame commented on the LinkedIn post on his X profile.

"Today I learned people still use LinkedIn," he wrote.
